Black and White Wedding

26th Jun 2012

Black and White evokes feelings of classiness and elegance. It symbolizes two different entities harmoniously existing side by side, just like a man and a woman, so what better theme for your wedding day?

Trends come and go and it is very easy to get caught up in the colour du jour and use it for your wedding day. After all when a colour is in fashion at the moment, the market is flooded with it, the same colour tops, pants, cars, bed sheets and notebook covers.

But is your favorite colour today, the same colour you loved 10 or 20 years ago?

You don’t want to get stuck looking back on your photo album in 10 or 20 years time wondering why you picked a lime green or coral for your wedding colour theme, as trends are just that – trends. They don’t last forever, and going with a high fashion colour theme can easily date your wedding.

My advice for wedding themes is to go for elegant, timeless looks, so you won’t have regrets. After all pretty much everyone loved a purple suit in the seventies, a fluro t-shirt in the 80’s and massively baggy jeans in the 90’s. If you were a fan of these trends at the time and you have photographic evidence, you would most certainly have those photos hidden at the bottom of a drawer. Don’t make the same mistake with your wedding.

If you find Black and White on it’s own a little hard to stomach, then rejoice! Black and White goes with almost everything – so you can work on creating highlights.

Picture a white chair with black sash at a wedding ceremony; with the guests fanning themselves with blood red Chinese paper fans.

The possibilities using black and white as a basis for your day are endless, and are only limited by your own imagination.
