Oh La La Cloche Jars!

9th Aug 2012

Cloche is a French word meaning ‘bell’ and when one of our lovely customers Kristy James sent in some pictures highlighting her fabulous use of our cloche jars, our bells were ringing loud and clear!

We are always so excited to see how our clever customers come up with uses for our glassware products for sale. And this classy bride used our cloche jars as table centrepieces for her wedding. She placed a faux tree in a terracotta pot, surrounded by some lovely little eggs and a sprinkling of moss and the effect is tres, tres, magnifique!

A cloche jar was originally invented to promote the growth of a plant placed inside. But now a cloche jar is used to store food and keep it fresh, or to highlight the fabulousness that is placed inside it. Whenever something is placed inside a cloche jar, your eyes are drawn to it, because as we all know, only very, very special things are kept behind glass. With a cloche jar you can take something quite normal and ordinary, and by encapsulating it behind glass you make it a little more special, a little more elegant, a little more romantic and a little more precious.

You could use cloche jars for wedding centrepieces as our inspired bride did or you could use them for weddings, parties or anything at all really. Check out some inspired ideas-

Wedding Supplies

  • Place your wedding rings in the cloche jar on a bed of flower petals, that way they look fabulously precious and they won’t get lost!
  • Place a black and white picture of a dearly loved one who can’t attend your wedding in the cloche jar, and put it on your signing table.
  • Handwrite a note that has all your special ‘couple’ dates and an explanation of each – use the date you met, the date of your first date, the date you first kissed, the date you got engaged and your wedding date, place it in a frame and place it in the cloche jar along with the first picture taken of you as a couple.

Parties

  • At babies first birthday, place a collection of all their first things, such as first pair of booties, laid on their first jumpsuit, with their first dummy and first picture placed on top.
  • For a Naming Ceremony, place a small tree in the cloche jar with a small plaque saying that this is babies birth tree and will be planted with fond memories of the naming day.
  • Place a small birthday cake or an extra special cupcake for the birthday boy or girl in the centre to show that the day is really all about them.

Anything

  • An old fashioned clock in a cloche looks spectacular on any hall table.
  • Use a cloche jar to serve afternoon tea-a plate of biscuits with cheese looks gorgeous and camembert from a cloche will only taste more fabulous!
  • Put some lingerie in there with a promise note to hubbie.
  • Place a small wrapped present in their for you child with the promise that if they pass a school test/challenge/ or keep their room tidy for a week, the present is all theirs to unwrap!
  • Candles of all shapes and sizes, look wonderful sitting proudly in a cloche jar.
