Baby Forest Animals Baby Shower

14th Aug 2011

I was so excited when good friend Meaghan shared that she was pregnant! As soon as the news was out I started planning her baby shower, although it did take a few months to decide on a theme.

Finally we decided on a Baby Forest Animals baby shower invitations theme and from then on it was full steam ahead planning, planning, planning.

The design below for Meaghans Baby Shower Invitation was exclusively and especially created for this occasion by our favourite illustrator Lisa. I adore Lisa's work and if you browse through our website you might just recognise her style on a few other designs we have. The personalised baby shower banner was, of course, printed by Little Dance

Our beautiful felt toadstools came all the way from Connecticut and were handmade by Ashleigh at "The Burbs" you can find her beautiful work listed on herFacebook page. I have to say that I was really impressed with the quality of our felt toadstools and look forward to working with Ashleigh again in the future.

I've known Lisa from Cakes by Lisa for a while now and we work together often. As always she impresses with her baking creations. My brief was pretty simple, I wanted something beautiful to fit in with our theme! I supplied her with the edible images for this baby shower cake and left the rest up to her. Thanks Lisa xox

The web is such a wealth of inspiration, I came across Ron and Gill from Bird's The Word who create the cute little rustic boxes for our cake pops and our cookie basket. If ever you are in the area you can usually find them at Craft Markets Australia at Mornington Racecourse.

Have you had an event that you would like to share with us? We would love to see!

A few of our other yummies included were our personalised chocolate bars, sweet treat boxes and famous personalised lollypops.

We were spoilt for choice of finger foods by my gorgeous cousin Emily at Emilys Epicure who catered Meaghans baby shower for me.

To keep us all entertained I initially asked each guest to bring along a baby shower game that we could all participate in. Some of the baby shower games we played were:

  • Guess the Girth - we each had to cut a piece of string to the length that we thought Meaghan's girth was, closest match won!
  • Baby Born - Jelly babies were frozen inside of iceblocks. The first to suck their baby out won. You're not allowed to use your hands, chew or crunch the ice.
  • Guessing Game - Guess how many jelly babies are in the baby bottle.
  • I supplied onesies and singlets along with fabric paint and we all painted our own special design onto one for Meaghan to keep. (Note these take a while to dry so best to do this one first so they have enough time to dry).
  • Baby Names - each guest was given a sheet with the alphabet running down the page. The first person to write a babies name next to each letter won. A few of us got stuck with the letter U!!
  • Baby Pins - each guest was given 3 large nappy pins. The aim of the game is not to mention the word "Baby". Each time you mentioned the word "Baby" you lost a pin, the pin going to the person who noticed it. The winner was the person who had the most pins at the end of the day. A very funny game and rather hard when you have a bunch of mums throwing trick questions throughout the afternoon!

I have to say that we had such a ball and now all that is left to do is patiently wait... but not long now, Meaghans due in the first week of September!!
